Harvest Light Quilt Pattern
$14. Digital PDF pattern. Instant download.
A beginner-friendly throw quilt that glows like an Indiana cornfield at sunset.
The story behind Harvest Light
I didn't expect a cornfield to turn into a quilt pattern. But here we are.
Ever since I moved back to Indiana, I can't drive anywhere without noticing the corn. Dirt fields in the winter, waiting. "Knee high by the Fourth of July" in summer, when I drive by. And then fall, when the corn turns gold and sunset makes the whole state glow for about twenty minutes.
This is my second fall back home. I wanted to make something that held all of it: the waiting, the growing, the gold, the light. I'm delighted by how the color plays across this one. I hope you enjoy making it as much as I enjoyed designing it.
What You'll Make
Harvest Light finishes at 56" x 56", a generous throw. It's built from one log cabin block, repeated across the whole quilt, with color moving in and out of each one so the finished top reads like a sunset settling over a field.
Skill Level
Beginner and up. If you've made one quilt and can sew a quarter-inch seam, you can make this one.
Techniques Used
Traditional piecing on a sewing machine.
