It’s Holland quilt along week 5! This week we’re assembling the quilt top! When I was setting the schedule for this quilt along, I wanted to make sure you would have plenty of time to baste, quilt, and bind your Holland quilt before the holidays in case you were looking to gift it. (And, yes! Give yourself the gift of a new quilt if you want!) I’m pretty excited about how my holiday version turned out, and I’m going to pick some fun backing fabric this week.
Even though the quilt along is coming to an end, you can still make your own Holland quilt. Just head over to my store to get your copy of the pattern. If you want to make the blue ombre version on the cover, you can still get fabric kits from Studio B Quilt. Let’s get to it!
Prizes!
This week’s sponsor is me! I have a great prize bin and will give one lucky quilter a precut fabric bundle and pattern. When you post to Instagram using #hollandQAL, that’s an entry to win a prize. You don’t have to post the current week’s task to be eligible. There’s no such thing as “behind” on Team Thread.

Piecing Tips
You should be a piecing rock star at this point, so my only tip for you this week is to follow the pressing arrows in the pattern. If you’re going to quilt it with an allover design, pressing your row seams open works quite nicely. If you’re going to do some stitch in the ditch, I recommend pressing your row seams to one side or the other. Since I’m not quite sure how I’m going to quilt my holiday Holland, I’ll be pressing my row seams to the side.
I’m so excited about how mine turned out! Funny story: when I was cleaning up trimmings and stashing some leftover fabric, I noticed that my background fabric was actually from a fall collection! This just goes to show that there really are no rules when it comes to picking fabric.
OK. I’m excited to see what you all do this week. You’ve been so inspiring! If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll see my backing fabric as soon as I pick it. Take care!
