July was busy everywhere but in the studio. As I was going through my photo reel, I really only did one sewing session. I’ll share that in this recap and all the other things we’ve been up to.
Happy Birthday America
Sir was lucky enough to get tickets to the 4th of July celebration at the White House. We had a lot of fun listening to music and watching the fireworks. It was super hot, but we couldn’t pass up this opportunity.
Of course the first thing I did was to take my shoes off and walk barefoot in the grass. There’s just something about grass under your feet on a hot summer day. It reminded me of the seemingly endless (until the streetlights came on) freedom I had as a kid.
Niece 2 Visits DC
Next up was a visit from my niece for her 13th birthday celebration – a year late. She was supposed to come last year, but there wasn’t much open so we delayed a year. I won Best Aunt when I had no idea how seats were labeled at the stadium. Our tickets were in row CC, and it turns out that’s the third row. We were so close to the visitors’ bench that we could have had a chat between plays. She had never seen women’s professional sports, and the Mystics didn’t disappoint. We had such a great visit.
This is the extent of the sewing I did this month. Like her sister, Niece 2 went through my patterns and fabrics and picked out her teenaged quilt. She had such a fun time playing with the color cards, going through books, and painfully narrowing down her choices. I think there might be a little quilter in her. William has the blocks all over the floor, so I have to sort that out and get the top done this weekend.
William
Speaking of William, check out my mans just chilling on the back deck. All the bugs were drawn to the light, so this is him resting after an epic bug-chasing workout.
The Proposal
Sir made sure we ended the month with a bang when he surprised me with a proposal. To do it in this room that means so much to me made it really special. Our closest friends were with us to witness me totally freaking out, and it turns out they were all in on the surprise.
Up Next
My very first quilt pattern launches September 7, and I’m so excited to hear what you think. If you’ve ever wanted to become an expert at four-at-a-time flying geese, this skill builder pattern is for you. I’m starting to get pictures from pattern testers, and they are doing a great job showing the possibilities with this pattern. If you’re not already subscribed, make sure you sign up for my email newsletter. Subscribers will be the first to get the link when the pattern launches, and I’ll be including a special launch discount code only available to subscribers.
I hope you also had a great July. See you next time!
No mention of Llama….how is she doing?
