After three months of labor, I'm so excited to announce the launch of the Holland quilt pattern.
Inspiration
I first started doodling the idea for Holland back in June. I wish I could tell you there's a story here, but I was really just teaching myself how to use my graphic design software easier. After mastering how to make a flying geese unit in the program, I decided to do some copying and dragging so you could become a master of the four-at-a-time flying geese technique in real life. Then I got to work writing up instructions and went to the cutting table to make sure it all worked. And boy did I become a flying geese expert!
The Holland quilt pattern is a skill-builder perfect for beginners and for more experienced quilters looking to really refine a technique. If you make the throw size, you'll end up with 200 flying geese units. I think that qualifies for official expert status.
As part of the launch for the Holland quilt pattern, I'll be sharing versions from my amazing pattern testers, some of my best tips for really perfecting this technique, and a few surprises along the way.
Sir William Saves the Day
I tell people that I am the only "employee" at For the Love of Thread, but that is a lie. I did a photo shoot of the Holland quilt to have something nice to put in the file, and Sir William thought it was for him. We would be nothing without our quilting cats!
I can't wait to hear what you have to say about the pattern. If you decide to buy it, thank you! Your support really means a lot to me. But I'd also love it if you came back to leave a comment with your thoughts.
